'God's Family' Bible School, U.M.W. executive committee

A big thanks goes to the following people, Julie Fry, for being the director of Bible School, and for these people that gave their time to help; John and Lorna Slater, Joe Ludlum and Dennis Fry. Thanks to the ladies who brought snacks for the children and adults to enjoy each morning. Theme for the school was "God's Family." The offering -- collected during three days of school -- was donated to the camp fund of the U.M.W. There were 12 children registered for the school.

Carol George was the guest speaker for worship, June 15. She presented a puppet show for the children that morning. Those helping her were Lorna Slater, Don Gaulbier and Phyllis Plaster. Her sermon for the morning was titled "Gifts of our Father'.". All the men present were presented "Cookie" gifts at the close of the service.

Ronnie and Beverly Brown recently were in Nebraska City, Neb., and Atchinson, Kan., to attend meetings.

David Schwalm, his wife and Cassie and Lorna Page drove to Kansas City on June 14, to attend the wedding of Andy Smith and Morgan Whitaker at chapel at St. Paul's seminary.

Several attended the monthly potluck supper on June 14. Skeet and Carol George were special guests.

Shirley Palmer attended the reception for Grand Ruth Nancy Kernick at Erie Chapter June 13.

John Slater and his wife drove to Enid, Okla., June 16, where they visited their son and family and enjoyed watching their grandsons play ball.

Payton Vogelbacher spent Wednesday night through Sunday with her grandparents Charles and Paula Brewer.

The ladies of the Hiattville U.M.W. hosted the executive committee of the District, Saturday, June 21, at the church. A light brunch of fruit, muffins, coffee cake, zucchini bread, juice and coffee were served to the 12 members in attendance. The Hiattville U.M.W. members were invited to sit in on their meeting and see how the District Officers do their planning for the year. It was an interesting experience.

Chaflin Leggett spent Friday night with his friends John and Lorna Slater. He was on his way to Gardner to be a camp counselor.

Bill Sampson and his wife recently spent a few days in Las Vegas in connection with Jennifer's job.

Guest speaker at worship June 22, was Retta Smith. Her sermon was titled "Whatever it Takes." Scripture was read from 1 Corinthians 9:16-19 and Romans 5: 1-8. The Children's time was given by Lorna Slater. Welcome visitors were Glenn Smith, Dallas, Connie and Megan Peterson. Lela Simpson will be the guest speaker on June 29. The new Pastor, Mary Akin, will be in the pulpit for the first time July 6.

Beverly Brown gave a brief report about the activities of the Parish. The Parish picnic will be at Hiattville, August 23. It will be a carry-in dinner at 5:30 p.m., with the talent program following. Come join in the fellowship Hiattville church will be a pray partner for West Liberty Church, for the next month.

All the women of the church are invited to attend the "coffee" at Farlington, July 10. If you plan to attend, let Beverly Davis know by July 5.
