A total of 114 alumni, family and friends attended the 78th Annual Richards -- Stotesbury, Missouri Schools Reunion and Banquet, May 24 at the Buck Run Community Center. The Community Center was opened before the catered meal for the alumni to display and view their school photos and memorabilia. The invocation was given by Eugene Winter.

The business meeting was called to order by President Rosalita Allen. Minutes of the 2007 meeting, treasurer report, letters and notes on phone calls from alumni unable to attend were read by Secretary/ Treasurer Alice Allen.

President Rosalita Allen honored the 50 and 60 year alumni present with gifts. Lots (Cooper) Houston was the Richards 60 year alumni. The 50 years alumni were Ella Mae (Williams) Combs, Shirley (Goddard) Winter and Paul Graves.

In new business, officers elected for 2009 were President, Bob Coambes, Vice President, Lorraine (Bloesser) Schnarre and Secretary-Treasurer Alice (Goddard) Allen.

Dorothy (Johnson) Matlob Chicago, traveled the farthest to the meeting. The oldest alumni from Richards was Lois (Houston) Cooper, class of 1942 and oldest alumni from Stotesbury was Margie (Rutherford) Houston class of 1933. Gifts were given to each.

The names and school of the deceased alumni during the last year were read by Alice. From Richards William Graves class of 1942, Larry Bloesser, 1961 and Judy (Goddard) Batchelor, 1966. Deceased alumni from Stotesbury were Lynell Stuart, class of 1936, Willard Houston, 1939 and Iva Lee (Dryer) Scantlin, 1947. Friends of the alumni deaths were Clyde Higgins, Wenona (Harth) Wagner, Libbie Ann (Rutherford) Scott, Genevieve (Headrick) Armstrong, Bobby M. Cook and Ida Pauline (Hogan) Heathman.

Each alumnus introduced themselves and gave the school and year they graduated.

Those attending the banquet from Richards were Chester and Betty Carpenter, Lots Cooper, Tom and Betty Cooper, Beverly Fletcher, Wayne and Elaine Harth, Wayne and Lois Houston, Jerry Naylor, Earl and Marjorie Rogers, Joe and Shirley Winter and granddaughter Amanda Wolf.

From Stotesbury attending were Dorothy Brooks, Dorothy McConnaughy, Fae and Marvin Shelton, and Charlie and Cheryl Swink.

Those attending from Fort Scott were Alice Allen, Larry and Rosalita Allen, Ruth Burchett, Maxine Bumett, Ella Mae and Fred Combs, Martha Cook, Anna Marie Endicott, Betty and Bill Graham, Shirley Higgins, Vivian Houston, Bill Keith, Lora and Sam Mason, Connie Shoemaker, Dorothy and Marvin Taylor and grandson Dayton, Carey Wileman, Marie and Dale Wiley, and Eugene and Margaret Winter.

The benediction was given by Galen Johnson, former Richards teacher. The 2009 banquet will be May 23th at the Buck Run Community Center.
