Nevada athletes receive end of year honors

Lindsay Rice and Jordan Kerbs were presented the MSHSAA Award of Excellence during Friday Senior Recognition Program. The award is presented to athletes for an exemplary display of sportsmanship, ethics and integrity.

Ralph Pokorny/Daily Mail During Friday's annual Nevada High School Senior Recognition Program Lindsay Rice and Spencer Daniels were named as the Outstanding Female and Male Athletes of the year. During her four years at Nevada High School, Rice lettered in both volleyball and basketball and played on Nevada's volleyball and basketball district championship teams. She was selected as a member of the All Conference Basketball First Team, All District Basketball First Team and All District Volleyball First Team. Rice is also a member of the National Honor Society. Daniels has amassed 140 career wins during his four years on the Nevada High School Wrestling Team and has won the state wrestling championship twice. He was selected as an Academic All-Star and is on the A Honor Roll. Daniels has been selected as a member of the All Conference wrestling team four times and the All Area Team twice. He has been a member of two Nevada district championship wrestling teams and received the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award three times.
Ralph Pokorny/Daily Mail Nevada High School seniors Dan Lovinger and Molly Ferree, were presented plaques during Friday's Senior Recognition program for their combination of athletic and scholastic achievements. Lovinger has lettered in football, basketball and track during his career at Nevada High School. He was selected as an all-district and all-conference football player and chosen as the defensive team MVP in basketball. He has been a two-time conference champion in track, presented the Outstanding Track Athlete award and was selected as an Academic All State. Lovinger was a member of the National Honor Society, the NHS Student Council and was a 2008 NHS valedictorian. Mollie Ferree lettered in tennis and track, and won third place in doubles at the district tennis tournament. Ferree played on Nevada's conference championship tennis team in 2005 and placed fifth in the high jump at the district track meet. She was the senior class secretary and National Honor Society president. Ferree received the Laurels G.P.A. Award and was a 2008 NHS Valedictorian.
