Jr. Leaders focus on new projects

Monday, March 24, 2008

President Elizabeth Meech called the Feb. 27 meeting of the Bourbon County Junior Leaders to order at 7 p.m. in the 4-H building. Fifteen members answered roll call by telling one way they stay healthy. Breanna Esslinger, secretary, read the minutes from the January meeting. Haley Melton gave the treasurer's report; Caitlin Jackson gave the reporter's report.

During Old Business, the committees for Fundraising, Day Camp, and the Home Show met separately. Then each committee reported their plans to the entire club. The Fundraising committee focused on Saturday, April 12, when the junior leaders will participate in the Citywide Garage Sale by serving breakfast from 6:30 a.m.- 11 a.m. and by having a bake sale. 4-Hers enrolled in cooking and their project leaders will be encouraged to prepare items for the bake sale on their own or as one of their meetings. Members can sign up for work shifts. The Day Camp Committee selected group leaders and set up the main activities for Day Camp on June 20. Group leaders will be Katelyn Vincent and Caitlin Jackson, J.W. Meech, and Brenton Esslinger, and Haley Melton and Chance Hoener. The activities planned so far include the following: Recreation- Breanna Esslinger, Scavenger Hunt- Cole and Drew George, Archery- Tanner Howard, and Arts and Crafts-Taylor Bailey. After much discussion, members voted not to do the Home Show because of schedule conflicts.

For New Business, the junior leaders decided to buy matching green and white tie-dyed T-shirts that they will then have printed. Drew and Cole George will be in charge of checking on prices for shirts and printing.

The next meeting for the Bourbon County Junior Leaders will be March 26 at 7:45 p.m. after the 4-H Council meeting at the 4-H building.
