Marie Mae Newcomb, age 86, former Bourbon County resident, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at the St. Francis Care Home in Concord, California.

She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Moran, Kansas, the daughter of Dewey Queen and Bessie Riggs Queen. Marie married William Fletcher Newcomb on Jan. 11, 1941, in Nevada, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2002.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 25 years; Grand Deputy in California for International Order of Rainbow for Girls; and at the time of her passing a member of Menifee Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Lake Elsinore, California.

Survivors include two daughters; Susan Newcomb-Mowrer and husband Tony, Riverside, California and Charlotte DeSanto and husband Joe, Pleasant Hill, California; and one brother, Delbert Queen and wife Jean, Lake Elsinore, California.

Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews and 1 niece. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nadine Swender.

The Rev. Jared Witt will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Woods Cemetery near Redfield. Eastern Star services will be conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until leaving for the cemetery at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
