Kolby Allen's two-yard touchdown run with just under 4 1/2 minutes remaining gave Fort Scott High's junior varsity football team a 26-21 victory over Pittsburg at Frary Field Monday night.

The Purple Dragons led most of the game, with their first score set up when they recovered a muffed punt at the Tigers' 21-yard line late in the first quarter. Four minutes later, Wesley Slavens hauled in a three-yard scoring pass from Blake Wilson to put Pittsburg up 7-0.

It became 13-0 when Keenan Sales scored on a pass play from 69 yards out with 5:09 left in the second quarter.

Fort Scott quarterback Aaron Judy scored on an option keeper from 16 yards out and Mitchell Stoughton ran in the two-point conversion to bring the Tigers within five points with 5:09 to go in the half.

The Tigers marched down to the Dragons' six-yard line early in the first half. Allen fumbled as he was running for the end zone but kept after the ball and fell on it for a touchdown with 2:22 left in the third period that put Fort Scott ahead for the first time, 14-13.

Slavens hauled in a 41-yard scoring pass with 10 seconds to go in the third and Mason Stewart's two-point conversion put the Dragons up 21-14.

Judy scrambled for a touchdown from 56 yards out with 9:14 left in the game but the Tigers were unable to score the two-point conversion and Pittsburg remained in front, 21-20.

After the Tigers took the lead, they were able to make a defensive stand, stopping the Dragons on downs at their own 44 with 2:44.

Pittsburg then made its own defensive stand and got the ball back it its own 44 with 1:07 to go. But the Tigers forced a fumble on fourth down to thwart the drive with 16 seconds left.

The Tiger JV, 2-0, travels to Coffeyville Monday.
