Hollis Hooker, a well known resident of the Fulton neighborhood, has been in Indianapolis attending the reunion of his old army regiment. But few of the regiment still live. According to the Associated Press sent out of Indianapolis: "Thirty comrades who had fought through the Civil War in the Nineteenth Indiana Battery gathered for their 27th annual reunion. And the happiest man of all was Hollis Hooker, of Fort Scott, Kansas, who has seen none of his comrades since the battery was mustered out. The battery was in the famous march to the sea."

According to the Government Weather Observer Shaver 1.29 inches of rain fell in last night's storm. Just such a rain was needed to give the earth a good soaking and to replenish the water supply of the farmer. The rain washed off the brick streets and gave everything a bright and fresh appearance.

Extreme temperatures in Fort Scott a year ago today were 99 and 72 degrees.
