The Frisco company is now making its inspection of ties. Four or five men have been assigned to the work and they are now walking over the division, each man carrying with him a can of paint, a paint brush and a prodding iron. Every tie is carefully inspected and in making this inspection the prodding iron is shoved into both ends of the tie and any defection in the tie unfits it for use and it is then marked with paint. It is quite a job to make this inspection and it means that a whole lot of money is to be spent in improving the roadbed.

June weddings are in the air and Miss Sue Needham was completely surprised last evening at the home of Mrs. C.W. Bruce by a group of friends who are members of the Tuesday Night Club, Tuesday Contract Club and Monday Contract Club. Their gift to the honoree was a handsome rock crystal plate, matching the set from Miss Needham sisters, Mrs. Gola Roberts and Mrs. A.B. Cheney. Previously at the Roberts home the group had the pleasure of viewing some of Miss Needham's lovely trousseau frocks and gifts received at Midian, Kansas, where she has been teaching.

Mrs. Addie Tyler had a very happy 90th birthday June 9 at the home of Mrs. Hattie Cheney, 702 South National Avenue. She was quite able to greet her many callers. She was pleased with the lovely handkerchiefs and other gifts which included a gorgeous bouquet from Mrs. Frank Parker and a beautiful birthday cake made by Mrs. Harry McKey.
