WARNER OTTO TIEGREEN

Warner Otto Tiegreen, age 89, of Chanute, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his home. Warner was born on January 14, 1918 in Chanute, the son of Hillel Ivan and Esther Carlmina (Warner) Tiegreen.
He attended Bristow, Oklahoma and Chanute elementary schools, graduating from Chanute High School in 1936. He attended Chanute Junior College for one year.

He was married to Frances Grace Jones on March 14, 1943 at Chanute. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2005.

Warner worked for Ash Grove Cement as office manager, retiring in 1983 after 30 years of employment.

Warner was a member for over 80 years at Grant Avenue Baptist Church. He served as trustee, custodian, church clerk, and ordained deacon.

After serving in the United States Army during World War II with the 1257th and 1250th Army Air Force Base Units in Marrakech, French Morocco, and Casablanca, Warner received the American Theatre Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
Warner will be missed by his surviving family; son, Thomas Tiegreen and his wife Carolyn of Carl Junction, Mo., son, John Tiegreen and wife Rita of Fort Scott; daughter, Marilyn Lock and her husband Larry of Chanute, daughter, Ruth Olendorf and her husband George of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandsons; five granddaughters; four great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; sister-in-law, Dorothy Blaine of Chanute; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Warner was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Vivian Marks, Gladys Youngberg and Dorothy Tiegreen.

A celebration of Warner's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the Grant Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Neeley officiating. A private inurnment will take place.

The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
