On Nov. 15, Class No. 10 met on Wednesday Afternoon with nine ladies present for their monthly meeting with a lesson given by hostess, Shirley Culbertson, entitled "LOVE." Christians are to love their enemies. Matthew 22 tells us to love the Lord our God with our hearts, minds and souls and our neighbor as ourself.

President Ava Mae Adams opened the business meeting by giving thanks for the day, Veterans and elections. She suggested all to visit the Veterans Memorial on the PSU Campus in Pittsburg. She read from Psalm 30:12 and closed with prayer.

After pledging to two flags, Mary Lee Payne read a poem and a prayer. Roll call named a relative who is or was a veteran.

Wanda Norris spoke a favorite poem "Little Orphan Annie" in order to record it for a special friend.

No funeral dinner had been served since the last meeting. The six cards sent since the last meeting included a thank you to the Arma Care Center for the good time last month.

The usual Christmas party will be held on Dec. 20 with finger food from each and a gift exchange.

The thought for the day was Prayer is when you talk to God, Meditation is when you listen to God. Dismissed with Lord's prayer to go to refreshment table. Shirley served pumpkin pie with topping and a variety of mixed nuts with coffee. It was blessed by Mary V. Shead. Others present were Patty Peterson, Carole Garrison, Lorene Gibson.

Relatives here received word that Ruth Twombly Evans died in California. She was a sister to Archie Twombly of Pittsburg and Fannie Mae Turner Christenson of Independence, Mo. and a niece to Walter Foulk in Arcadia.

At the Frontenac Rotary Fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 26, Arcadians present after church that afternoon were Gary and Patty Peterson, Carole Garrison, Mae Watt and Mary V. Shead. All enjoyed chili, hot dogs or soup with a variety of desserts and drink. Gary is a member, so helped serve the food that afternoon.

Weather permitting, Hospital District No. 1 of Crawford County Community Outreach will be giving free blood pressure screening at the Autumn Leaves Senior Center on Monday, Dec. 11 from 11 a.m.-noon. Seniors are invited to bring a covered dish, enjoy diner and the gift exchange during the meeting time.

Among the many Thanksgiving dinners served on Nov. 23, was a carry-in dinner at the Shead farm, rural Garland, with 40 mostly relatives, close friends, and even students from Oral Roberts University who spent the weekend.

Jeff, Sherry and Courtney Sisney were hosts for a family dinner in their rural Arcadia home on Saturday after Thanksgiving. Guests were Steve Sisney, rural Fort Scott; Susan Cherry with Phaedra from Olathe and Logan Cherry and friend from Girard. Also Greg and Theresa Sisney with Austin; Brock and Helen Sisney; Chris Payne and Mindy Davied, rural Arcadia.

Friday morning, Nov. 24, Ralph and Cindy Shead came to Arcadia to take his mother to visit Cindy's parents, R. H. and Jean Geurin in Dewey, Okla. All were dinner guests of Cindy's brother David and Debra Geurin, Cassandra and Kelsey and friend, Ryan Stauder. The Sheads returned to their own home that evening.

The Cato tour held early in December was quite a successful gathering in that 70 were in attendance. The drawing for the quilt was won by Cindy Fry Mertz from Mound City.

Kristin and Steve Girard with sons, Jack and Sam, hosted the family Thanksgiving dinner with these guests present, Patty and Gary Peterson, Mac Steele, Max Cary, Randy Cary, Trey and Trevor Cary, Caroline Girard, Gary DAvid and Jeannie Peterson with Megan and Gracie and Kelci Newkirk.

Wanda Norris in her own home on Thanksgiving was well supplied with dinners from her neighbors and friends, Lilly and Jerry Coonrod, Emory and Betty Briggs and Marsha and Roger Harris.

Alice Townsend of Fort Scott traveled with grandson John Hay to Jonesboro, Ark. to visit his mother, Mary Ann Hay. With them was Tyler, Megan and Morgan. While there, they had their Christmas exchange. Alice had phone calls from her other children with holiday greetings.

Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Lilly and Jerry Coonrod entertained with a family dinner to include as guests, Kim McGlaughlin Tony Ange with Elizabeth and Helen from Girard Carmen McClintock, Jared and Curtis, from Franklin; Norma McCartney, Liberty, Mo. On Thursday, Lilly and Jerry were dinner guests of his sister, Peggy and Eric Broad in Fort Scott.
