EUNICE MAE STEVENS

Eunice Mae Stevens, age 102, formerly of Devon, died on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 13, 1904 in Devon, the daughter of Aurthur and Nellie Augusta (Jones) Fitzgerald. She married Roy Edward Stevens on May 21, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death November 15, 1976.

Eunice worked as a cashier at the Forum Cafeteria in St. Louis, Missouri for 42 years, and she was a 50 year member of the Olive Chapter No. 13 Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two nephews, Bobbie Sipe of Fort Scott, and John Sipe of Mound City; two nieces, Patsy Baughn of Nevada, Missouri, and Margie Nichols of Joplin, Missouri; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Fitzgerald, and a sister; Thelma Sipe.

The Rev. Paul Babcock will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at the Centerville Cemetery, in Devon. Family and friends will meet at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home at 10 a.m. prior to the service and will leave for the cemetery at 10:40 a.m. Online expressions of sympathy may be emailed to expressions@konantz-cheney.com.
