Bourbon County Shriners raise more than $6,800 for YAT (11/24/09)
The Bourbon County Shrine Club presented a check in the amount of $6,878.18 to the Youth Activites Team after its participation in the recent Jason Aldean concert to benefit Pennies for the Park. In addition to Shriners Hospitals for Children, local Shriners regularly raise funds for local projects including sponsoring Bourbon County's best athletes and cheerleaders in the annual Kansas Shrine Bowl High School All Star Football game and musician participants in the Kansas All State Marching Band.. ...
Ropin' & Rockin' exceeds 7,000 ticket sales goal (11/18/09)
The Youth Activities Team set the goal of 7,000 tickets sold for the Ropin' & Rockin' for Pennies for the Park event. The totals are in and according to YAT Co-convener Clayton Tatro, there were 7,408 people were in attendance for the event. Tatro said YAT does not yet have numbers regarding total expenses and revenues, however they hope to have totals in two or three weeks...
Ropin' and Rockin' off without a hitch (11/10/09)

Many are filled with anticipation as the Ropin' & Rockin' for Pennies for the Park event is just days away. Saturday's event will begin with a roping competition at 9:30 a.m. which will run during the day. The Youth Activities Team is giving students a chance to meet Jason Aldean, Adam LaRoche, and friends with a new contest. The Penny Bank contest will be held in Fort Scott elementary schools as well as Fort Scott Middle School and Fort Scott High School and give students the chance to raise money for Ellis Park and win a "Meet & Greet" session with Aldean and LaRoche before the Ropin' & Rockin' for Pennies for the Park concert on Saturday, Nov. ...

Although the primary goal for the Ropin' and Rockin' for Pennies for the Park event is to raise money for Ellis Park, is is not the only local beneficiary. According to Youth Activities Team Co-convener Clayton Tatro, YAT wanted to help local vendors make some money as well. Those local food and drink vendors include a Shriner's Beer Tent, Phat Brothers B-B-Q, Scottish Rite, Elk's, V.F.W. Men's Auxiliary, Generator, Kiwanis, Washington W.S, Bob's Dogs, and Opies/Taco Tico...

Ropin' and Rockin' for Pennies for the Park, a day-long event combining a rodeo competition and a concert from popular country rocker Jason Aldean, will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds. Blitz has funds but needs volunteers (06/17/09)
A recent fundraiser conducted by the Good Neighbor Action Team resulted in the group nearly tripling its prior fundraising efforts. Between June 1-12, the First Presbyterian Church matched, dollar for dollar up to $7,000, any donations the group received during that time. The group is continuing its task of trying to raise money and recruit volunteers for an expansive six-day home improvement plan June 25-30.
