UJH boys' teams enjoy busy week

Uniontown Junior High's boys' basketball teams enjoyed a busy week. Monday, Uniontown traveled to Mound City and played Jayhawk-Linn.

'These were two big games for us and we did really well,' head coach Chad Hays said. The eighth-grade team won 26-24 in a game that came down to the last shot.

'It was a great defensive effort from our entire team, holding them to 24 points,' Hays said.

Jesse Kuns led the winners in scoring with 14 points. Garrett Elder contributed seven points and Colton Sutterby chipped in four. David Bradbury also added a free throw.

The seventh-grade lost to Jayhawk Linn, 34-27, but stormed back after being down 18-2 in the first quarter.

Tyler Cooper scored four points, Ben George scored seven, Gavin Fry eight, Drew Stoughton three, and Clay Robinson five.

The eighth-grade beat Crest Thursday, 46-9. Three players scored in double digits -- Jesse Kuns, David Bradbury, and Garrett Elder.

The seventh-grade beat Crest, 40-8. The scoring was balanced in this game as well, with Ben George finishing as the leading scorer.
