Herman Cecil Yeager, age 73, resident of rural Fort Scott, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Joplin, Mo., Mercy Hospital. He was born July 7, 1939, in Fort Scott, the son of Herman Cecil Yeager Sr. and Murlie Baker Yeager.

Cecil was a 1957 graduate of Fort Scott High School.

He lived in Hickman, Neb., until moving to the family farm near Fort Scott in 1995. He was retired as a counselor for the Lincoln, Neb., State Penal Institution. Cecil married Sandra Kay Hawkins on May 7, 1961. They later divorced. He loved any outdoor activity, especially taking care of the family farm.

Survivors include three sons, Tim Yeager and wife Karen, Dardenelle, Ark., Jerry Yeager and wife Diana, Martell, Neb., and Ed Yeager and wife Julie, Hickman, Neb. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tim Yeager Jr., Matt Moore, Jennifer Hignit, Jerry Wayne Yeager Jr., James Yeager and Kelsi Durbin; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
