Vicki Sue Shotton, age 61, a resident of rural Hume, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She was born May 29, 1951, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Jewel Dean "Nick" Nichols and Pat Jeanne Allen Nichols.

She married Richard E. Shotton in April of 1983 in Fort Scott, Kan. Vicki had worked as a seamstress for Key Work Clothes. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and doing crafts as well as going to flea markets and garage sales.

Survivors include her husband, Rick, of the home; three sons, Dean Beckford, of the home, Randy Beckford of Nevada, Mo., and Timothy Shotton of Fort Scott, Kan.; two daughters, Shannon Vess and husband, David, Nevada, Mo., and Stephanie Spragues and husband, Byron, Alamogordo, N.M.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Also surviving is a brother, Dean Nichols, Branson, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.

Rev. Bryan Keith will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Following funeral services, there will be cremation. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Barnes Jewish Hospital Transplant Unit and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
