Fall Festival coming up next weekend

Friday, September 28, 2012

The sixth annual Fall Festival, benefiting the Bourbon County Relay for Life chapter and The Sharing Bucket, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at 2484 Limestone Road, home of event co-organizer Lavetta Simmons.

Proceeds from the event, which features a variety of games and activities for people of all ages, benefit Relay for Life, which raises money for the American Cancer Society and its services, and The Sharing Bucket, a nonprofit cancer support organization that provides emotional and financial assistance to cancer patients and their families.

Money is used for cancer research and education and to assist local cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and their family members with travel, medical expenses and other costs.

Attractions and games such as a pumpkin patch, train and wagon rides and face painting will also be featured.

Tickets for all activities, food and beverages will be available for 50 cents each.

Booths will be set up for arts and crafts, face and nail painting, pumpkin painting and pictures and other activities. Each activity is sponsored by one of several local Relay for Life teams that conduct fundraisers each year to help raise money toward the organization's goal.

There will also be booths featuring items such as candles, cupcakes, homemade pies and quilts available for sale. For more information, call Simmons at 224-8070.
