Rienbolt third at cross-country meet

ALTAMONT, Kan. -- Fort Scott High School junior Katren Rienbolt finished in third place at the season-opening Labette County Cross Country Invitational here Thursday.

In a race that finished two of the top 20 finishers at last year's Kansas State Meet, Labette County's Michaela Ozier finished in first place with a time of 17 minutes, 20.26 seconds over 3,200 meters. Rienbolt finished third in 18:15.28 with Baxter Springs' Paige White finishing in between in 17:51.25.

Rienbolt finished third at last year's state meet while Ozier was 20th. Both were also qualifiers for the 3,200-meter run at the State Track and Field meet where Rienbolt was fifth and Ozier finished ninth.

There were no other varsity girls running for Fort Scott and head coach Tracey Bogina did not enter anyone in the boys' varsity race.

Grace Willis finished 18th for the Tigers in the 3,200-meter girls' junior varsity race with a time if 26:04.39. Clare Gorman was 33rd in 28:36.08 and Kyle Brown was 40th in 29:59.95.

Garrett Tatro was 38th for Fort Scott in the 3,200-meter JV boys' race in 21:35.23 with Zach Ballou 42nd in 22:05.73.

Fort Scott hosts its annual invitational Thursday on the field behind the building located at 2108 S. Horton St.
