Timely Suggestions:

A good way to warm muffins or rolls is to lay a cloth in a colander or a sieve and place over a teakettle. Cover the rolls and allow to heat at the same time as the water heats for tea or coffee.

A most dainty dessert and one which, if the materials are at hand, may be prepared in a short time. Peel and cut in halves sufficient peaches for the number of people to be served. Whip heavy cream and add sugar. A few marshmallows cut into quarters adds a delightful flavor.

Another unusual peach dessert is this: Place the halves of very ripe peaches on slices of angelfood cake. Serve with whipped cream.

75 YEARS AGO

Residents of Hiattville are elated over the prospect of getting electricity there soon. A representative of the Kansas Gas & Electric Company of Pittsburg has been there for several days signing up prospective users and report is that a large percent of the residents and business people there have agreed to become customers. It is probable that a line will be built from Hepler, going north to Highway 39 and east to Hiattville. It is understood that a number of farmers along the route are planning to use current from the line. It is also reported that the line may be extended to Elm Creek Lake, about 2 1/2 miles northeast of Hiattville.

FULTON, June 26 -- A large crowd attended the charivari Wednesday evening for Mr. and Mrs. John Keating at the home of Mrs. Ida Hill. Candy bars and cigars were passed and all wished the couple many years of happiness.

Seventy-five top women golfers of Southeast Kansas will tee off at intervals beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow at the Fort Scott Country Club course. Prizes will be awarded at a luncheon, according to Mildred Bloomfield, general chairman. Ernestine Leek will be in charge of planning and rules. Scorekeepers are Bernice Patterson and Grace Gardner. Ken Barton, Herbert Crane, Bill Bloomfield and Hollis Leek are starters. Mrs. Ruth Hewett is in charge of caddies. Other chairmen for the event include Ava Warren, luncheon; Esther Ann Sewell, decorations; Helen Johnson, coffee; Dorothy Hudson, bridge; and Faye Pargen, clubhouse.

Fort Scott speed limits are 20 miles per hour in the business district and 30 miles per hour in the residential district. Effective July 1, bonds and fines for speeding will be as follows: citations for speeding up to five miles over the posted speed, limit, $5; up to 10 miles over the limit, $15; up; to 20 miles over the limit, $25.
