Carolyn S. Ewing, 68, Fort Scott, Kan., formerly of Nevada, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at her home in Fort Scott. She was born March 25, 1943, in Nevada, to Roy E. Jones and Lena V. Schmidt Jones.

Carolyn was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1961. She worked at Farm and Home in Nevada for many years. She also worked for Western Insurance Co., Fort Scott, for a number of years and then for Travelers Insurance Co., Overland Park, Kan., until her retirement in 2005. Carolyn then returned to Fort Scott and had been working as cashier and door greeter at Wal-Mart in Fort Scott -- a job she loved and was very devoted to. She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Nevada.

Survivors include two daughters, Teri Hulsey and her husband, Shannon, Fort Scott, and Traci Longstreth and her husband, Shane, Walker, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Brandon King, A.J. Cezar, Tasha Hulsey, Megan McInroy, Cameo Longstreth, Mitchell Longstreth and Lydia Longstreth; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 30, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home.
