JV Tennis hosts tourney

Fort Scott High School's tennis team fielded six entries in a junior varsity tournament hosted by the Tigers Monday. Results are as follows:

* -- Jamine Davis, No. 1 singles, 1-2, 3rd place: lost to Haley Markham, Chanute, 6-3; lost to Kateyln Johnson, Baldwin, 0-6; def. Aubin Duff, Fort Scott White, 6-2.

* -- Aubin Duff, No. 1 singles, 0-3, 4th place: lost to Johnson, 6-3; lost to Markham, 6-0; lost to Davis, 6-2.

* -- Holly Duff, No. 2 singles, 0-3; 4th place: lost to Piper Brooks, Chanute, 6-1; lost to Marlena Arjo, Baldwin, 6-1; def. Jenni Westendorf, Chanute, 6-2.

* -- Sammi Carr and Brittany Burns, No. 1 doubles, 2-1, tied 2nd place: def. Chelsea Beaurick/Jaymi Lawrence, Chanute, 6-5 (8-6); def. Emily Poultot/Jenny Robbs, Baldwin, 6-2; lost to Krista Hightower/Kandice Rost, Fort Scott White, 6-4.

* -- Krista Hightower/Kandice Rost, No. 1 doubles, 2-1, tied 2nd place: def. Poultot/Robbs, 6-1; lost to Beaurick/Lawrence, 6-1; def. Carr/Burns, 6-4.

* -- Natalie Carr/Danielle McDowell, No. 2 doubles, 1-2, 3rd place: lost to Sarah Methvin/Shelby Stair, Chanute, 6-2; lost to Isabelle Buckley/Natalie Shultz, Baldwin, 6-2; def. Erin Thurston/Sky Tucker, Fort Scott White, 6-1.
