Marvin L. Hall, 84, resident of Redfield, Kan., passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott. Marvin was born April 27, 1927, in Devon, Kan., the son of Chase and Dottie Calvin Hall. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War.

He married Louise Gobl on May 24, 1952, in Fort Scott. Marvin was an avid draft horse puller for 67 years. He loved trading draft horses with friends all over the country. He also enjoyed wolf and coon hunting in his earlier years. Marvin was a lifetime dairyman and stockman in the Redfield area.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise. He was a wonderful father to son Gary Hall and wife Jackie, Redfield, Kan.; daughters Brenda Gleason and husband Kevin, Uniontown, Kan., and Linda Essary and husband Marty, Seymour, Mo.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Tarin Chilson, Caleb Essary, Tyler Hall and Reed and Chase Gleason; and four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Raydn and Avery Chilson and Gracie Essary. He took great pride in his grandchildren and their many activities. He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Pankratz, and a brother, Joe Hall, as well as his parents.

Pastor Waylon Ingle will conduct funeral services for Marvin Hall at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, at the Mt. Orum Baptist Church in Redfield. Burial will follow in the Mt. Orum Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Redfield Ruritan and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
