Florence V. (Colvin) Thibault

Florence V. (Colvin) Thibault, 73, passed away in her sleep on Thursday, March 31, 2011. She was born on Feb. 21, 1938 in Devon, Kan., to Glen and Dorothy Colvin. She graduated high school in Uniontown, Kan., in 1955 and attended airline school in 1957. She moved to California that year and worked for Merrill Lynch for 20 years. She married Tom Thibault in 1966. They moved to Lake County in the mid -70's and opened an aircraft sales operation at Lampson Air Field. She got her pilot's license in 1974 and enjoyed flying her little plane solo and barefoot. She later worked with the Social Services Department for Lake County. Florence and Tom wintered in the desert in their various RVs and eventually bought a home in Palm Desert.

Florence was an avid reader and walked every day to the various clubhouses, especially the one with a library. She carried books and magazines for almost a mile round-trip. Other interests were cruises, shoes, knitting, shopping for small old clocks, buttons, cups and other treasures at thrift and antique shops. She played Free Cell regularly on the computer. She never missed Reno Air Race Week, attending 35 yeras in a row. She loved spring drives in the desert to view wildflowers and watching for her favorite yellow birds and butterflies. She had a special love for her kitties and worked with feral cats. She was known for giving the world's best back rubs.

Florence is survived by her loving husband, Tom, and sisters, Joann Ruby, Norma Kaddo (Rudy), Melba McCann (Taylor) and brother Carl Colvin. She was preceded in death by sister, Bettye Wright and brother, Charles Colvin. She will be missed by sister-in-law Diana Colvin, brother-in-law Steve Thibault (Pat), brother-in-law Bill Wright, all her nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

Services were held April 12, 2011 in Lakeport, Calif.. Interment followed at Hartley Cemetery in Lakeport, Calif.ዪ
