DR. KENNETH DONALD MCCRACKEN

Dr. Kenneth Donald (Don) McCracken, age 80, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Oakview Rehab and Nursing Center in Calvert City, Ky.

He was born Feb. 18, 1930 in Hiattville, to his parents Joseph Andrew McCracken and Nellie Pecle McCracken.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Martin; at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Murphy Funeral Home; 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

Dr. McCracken was preceded in death by his wife, Jan Houghton McCracken.

He is survived by his sons, Rev. Schuyler J. (Sky) McCracken of Paducah, Ky., and Dr. Vance J. McCracken of Edwardsville, Ill.; brother, Edward McCracken of Hiattville, Kan.; sister, Dee Burnam of Fort Scott, Kan.; four grandchildren, Sarah McCracken, Connor McCracken, Liam McCracken and Rowan McCracken.

Dr. McCracken was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Andrew McCracken and Nellie Peele McCracken.

Dr. McCracken was a retired professor in the School of Education at The University of Tennessee at Martin.

He was a member of Pawnee United Methodist Church in Pawnee, Kan.

He was part of the First United Methodist Church family in Martin.

He was a graduate of Pittsburg State University and University of Arkansas.
