Martha J. "Marti" Robinson, age 83, Joplin, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at St. John's Regional Medical Center.

Martha was born Feb. 22, 1927 in Fort Scott, Kan., to the late Clifford Allison and Julia Whitworth Allison.

She was raised in Fort Scott and lived there until moving to Joplin 25 years ago.

A graduate of Fort Scott High School, she worked as a service representative for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 27 years.

She was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers; Daughters of the Nile; Nobels Widows of Shriners, Pittsburg, Kansas; Freeman Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Scott.

Martha liked to travel; go to dinner theatres; enjoyed NASCAR and her favorite driver is Tony Stewart. She also enjoyed going to the local casinos.

Martha married Lewis D. Robinson on March 29, 1956 in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Dan Lyman and his wife, Lea, Ottawa, Kan.; four grandchildren, Aaron Lyman and his wife, Lisa, Topeka; Craig Lyman and his wife, Brianne, Topeka; Kevin Lyman, Ottawa; Clint Lyman, Ottawa; eight great-grandchildren, Trent, Nicholas, Ethan, Katlyn, Kirsten, Hanna, Maci, Hadden; and many good friends.

A memorial visitation is planned for Wednesday at Parker Mortuary from 7-8 p.m.

Graveside committal services are planned for Thursday at 10 a.m. at Fort Scott National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freeman Advantage, in care of Parker Mortuary.
