Ronald Marion Jones, age 65, resident of rural Deerfield, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 6, at his home.

He was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Devon, Kan., the son of Alfred Marion Jones and Opal Gillenwater Jones.

Ronald married Sue Hurd in 1962. They later divorced.

He married Linda Newcomb on Sept. 17, 1992, in Iola, Kan.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Ronald was retired working in maintenance at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City.

Survivors include his wife Linda, Fort Scott; one son, Gary Jones and wife April, Sheldon, Mo.; and one daughter, Angie Ellifirts and husband Raymond, Nevada, Mo.

Also surviving are two sisters, Amelia Bower, Deerfield, Mo., and Vicky Page, Fort Scott; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Laoma Ruth Brooks.

Rev. John Nipper will conduct graveside services at 2:30 p.m., Friday in the U. S. National Cemetery.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until leaving for the cemetery at Cheney Witt Chapel.
