MABLE BROWNBACK

Mable May McRae Brownback, 89, of Prescott, Kan., formerly of Mound City, Kan., passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home.

Mable was born on March 12, 1919 in the Wesley Chapel Community to Walter E. and Myrtle May Adams McRae. She graduated from Mound City High School in 1937. Mable was a sweet and loving person sharing her legacy by teaching Sunday school classes at Wesley Chapel and reaching out to all her neighbors, friends, relatives and family members over the years. She worked in her earlier years with Dr. Mills and helped with cooking at a local restaurant in Mound City. She also worked at the Kossuth Telephone Office in the Wesley Chapel Community. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked on the farm with her husband, Leo for many years. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church and WSCS and the United Methodist Church of Mound City. She married her sweetheart, Leo Brownback on May 2, 1943. They had a very content and happy life together for sixty six years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Carl and wife Glenna McRae and Earl and wife Elma McRae and two sisters, Ruby McRae McDowell and husband Homer and infant baby sister, Velma Helen McRae. Also, a daughter-in-law, Linda Brownback. Survivors include her husband, Leo of Prescott Country View; two sons, Loyd Brownback and wife Mary of Mound City, Herbert Brownback and wife Mary Lou of LaCygne and one daughter, Lois Wright and husband Dale of Mound City, six grandchildren, Michelle Johnson of Roeland Park, Kansas, John Brownback and wife Jeana of Mound City, Chad Brownback of Louisburg, Kansas, Chris Brownback of LaCygne, Jason Wright of Fairbanks, Alaska and Melissa Wright of Olathe, Kan., three great grandchildren, Colton Byram, Rachel Brownback and Trevor Brownback.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday October 28, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Mound City. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m., until service time at the church. The family suggests contributions to Methodist Church or the Country View Activity Fund.
