Bobby M. Cook, age 78, resident of 1418 E. Wall, Fort Scott, Kansas died Friday,

May 2, 2008 at the Fort Scott Medicalodge. He was born July 22, 1929 in Enid, Oklahoma the son of Guy Carlton Cook and Nellie A. Graves Cook. He married Martha Poyner on April 24, 1955 in Fort Scott. Bob worked as a deliveryman for Budweiser prior to retiring from the Bourbon County Courthouse as custodian. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the United States Army where he received the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was a 40 year member of the Olson Frary Burkhart Post #1165 V.F. W. He loved woodworking, fishing, puzzles and spending time with grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Martha, of the home; one son, Donnie Cook and wife Traci, Roanoke, Texas; one daughter, Janet Tucker and husband Terry, Fort Scott; a twin brother, Bill Cook, Fairgrove, Missouri; and two sisters, Elizabeth Taiclet and Mable Taiclet, both of Fort Scott. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Carolanne Cook, Roanoke, Texas, Seth Tucker and wife Laura and Shelly Bradley and husband Zach, all of Fort Scott; and two great-grandchildren, Gregg Tucker and Gabe Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and five sisters.

Pastor Art Schumacher will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the V. F. W. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Community Hospice of America and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, Kans. 66701.
