DONALD EUGENE VANN

Donald Eugene Vann, age 68, a resident of Fort Scott, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Olathe Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Harding, Kan., the son of Herbert Clarity and Linda M. Vann. Donald married JoAnn Nelson in 1958. They later divorced. Donald had worked for KG&E and was retired from Western/American States/ Safeco Companies. At the time of his illness he worked part time for the City of Fort Scott and St. Mary's Catholic School. He loved attending stock car races and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Graham, Fort Scott; a son Keith Vann and wife Sherri, Fort Scott; three daughters, Marsha Vann and Lynette Vann, both of Fort Scott and Machelle Young, Pittsburg, Kan. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two uncles, Lloyd and Lawrence Vann; a beloved aunt, Thelma Vann; and special friend, Christine Carnevale and daughter Caitlin. He was preceded in death by his father.

Elder John T. Owens will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main.
