CORA MAE COOK HEADLEY

Cora Mae Cook Headley, age 86, former resident of Cavalry Crossing Apartments and more recently of Guest Home Estates, died early Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Mercy Health Center. She was born July 13, 1921, in Arcadia, Kan., the daughter of David Ridgway and Rosa Reeder Ridgway. She married Theodore Cook in 1944, and he preceded her in death in 1968. She then married Lawrence Headley in 1979, and he preceded her in death in 1989. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She volunteered for many years with the Head Start Program. She attended the Assembly of God Church and later the West Park Nazarene Church. She loved to play bingo. She was the last of her family.

Cora is survived by three sons, Charles Cook, Carl Cook, and Tommy Cook and wife Sherri, all of Fort Scott; four daughters, Thelma Ragsdale, Lebanon, Mo., Christina Judy and husband Fred, Fort Scott, Etta Cook, Lawrence, Kan., and Charlotte Thompson, Fort Scott; sister-in-law Zella Ridgway, Three Forks, Mont.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Ted Cook, her seven siblings, one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.

Pastor Steve Bell will conduct funeral services for Cora Mae Cook Headley at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Fulton, KS. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
