Eva Fern Hazelton, 82, of Fort Scott, died Sunday morning, December 2, 2007, at the Medicalodge Nursing Home. She was born in Fort Scott on December 22, 1924, the daughter of George Henry and Mary Olive Quigley Dickmann. She married James B. Hazelton on July 3, 1951, in Fort Scott, he preceded her in death on March 23, 1997.

She graduated from Fort Scott High School, was a lifelong resident of Fort Scott and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Scott.

She is survived by a son; Rick Hazelton of Roswell, N.M., two daughters; Patty Nelson of Kansas City, Mo., and Barbara Geiger of Uniontown, Kan., a step-daughter; Deann Tatman of Hartford, Kansas and a step-son; Larry Hazelton of Olathe, Kan., two grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Ernest Dickmann, four half brothers; Clarence, Justice, George and Harl Dickmann, 3 half-sisters; Elda Glenn, Lilli Schlapper and Ruth Wren Dickmann.

The Rev. Steve MacArthur will conduct funeral services for Fern Hazelton at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
