Frances "Maxine" Klewien, 92, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Freeman Health System West Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Ezekial John Boring and Allie Viola Ricketts Boring. She married Wilford Edwin Streich on Oct. 9, 1943, in Fort Scott. and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1963. She later married Fancy Klewien on Feb. 26, 1965, and he also preceded her in death.

Maxine was born and raised in Fort Scott, Kan. She graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1934. She was employed by J.C. Penney of Fort Scott for a number of years.

She and her husband Wilford farmed in the Walker area for many years until his death. Maxine has lived in Nevada since 1962. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Walker, Mo., and Royal Neighbors of America Comp 1049, Fort Scott.

Survivors include one daughter, Helen A. Cleveland and her husband Mike, Nevada; one son, Dr. Edwin Streich and his wife Elizabeth, Carthage, Mo.; three grandchildren, Dr. Christine Kunzweiler and her husband Steve, Skiatook, Okla., Nicole Jacobs and her husband Bryan, Portland, Ore., and Lindsey Streich, Springfield, Mo., and four great-grandchildren, Sandra Kunzweiler, Jennie Kunzweiler, Jacquelyn Kunzweiler, and Jessica Frederick.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with Brad Hunt officiating. Friends may call Monday morning and until Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Memorials may be given in her memory to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
