Jean Olive Willard, 89 of Carl Junction, Mo., formerly of Fort Scott, died at her home Friday evening, Aug. 3, 2007. She was born on Dec. 11, 1917 in Newkirk, Okla. the daughter of Lawrence James and Truly Mae Mollett Winchell. She married Max Willard on Nov. 3, 1941 in Joplin, Mo., he preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2003.

Jean was a member of the First Christian Church and the Ladies Guild of the First Christian Church. She was a homemaker most of her life but served for many years as the Office Manager at the Newman-Young Clinic.

She is survived by a daughter, Leigh Ann & Jim Hackney of Carl Junction, Mo., two sons, Ralph R. & Gizelda Willard of Boston, Mass. and Michael M. Willard & Anne Litwin of Boston, Mass., two sisters, Bertie Rodgers of Tulsa, Okla. and Lorene Edger of Houston, Texas, 10 grandchildren, Jenni, Chris, Walker, Jordan, Rebecca, Lincoln, Olivia, Justin, Blair and Sara and 4 great grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Carly and Emma. In addition to her husband, Max, she was preceded in death, and two sisters, Lola Mae Edwards and Betty June Winchell.

Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct funeral services for Jean Willard at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday evening, Aug. 6, 2007 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to either the First Christian Church of Fort Scott or the St. John's Hospice of Joplin, Mo.
