Charles Grayson Lowry

Friday, July 27, 2007

Charles Grayson Lowry, 88, a resident of Fort Scott, strode through the pearly gates of heaven July 25, 2007, at 7:37 p.m., where he was met by the many family and friends that preceded him. Among them are his mother and father, Cora Blanche and Louis Edward Lowry, his daughter Cindy Lou Lowry, two ex-wives, Shirley A. Lowry and Josephine E. Lowry (whom he loved unto death), nine siblings and his best friend, Harvey Chambers. Charles was born in Drywood, KS, on Dec. 22, 1918. He is survived by 10 children, Charles A. Lowry, Steven N. Lowry, Jamie M. Hemphill and husband Bruce, Yvonne M. Fiegener, and D. Artricia Lowry, all of Fort Scott, and Gladys M. McIntire, Judith Witchurch and husband Richard, Rita M. Lynch, and Donald R. Lowry, all of Bartlesville, Okla., and L. Christopher Lowry of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren (by blood and heart alike). We would like to acknowledge all these but they are just too numerous. He will be dearly missed by all, forever. God bless our dad. Funeral services for Charles Lowry will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Rev. David Tucker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-8 p.m. Sunday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association, and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, Fort Scott, KS, 66701.
