Edna Mason Golladay, age 99, of Fort Scott, passed away Sunday evening, February 25, 2007 at the Mercy Health Center. She was born the daughter of Alexander and Christena (Wiley) Mason December 21, 1907. She was a teacher, having taught in Bourbon County schools. She was Superintendent of the Bourbon County rural schools, and was Principal of Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Wichita. In 1960 she opened the new Opal Jane Kennedy Elementary School in Lawrence, from which she retired in 1972 after a career in education of 42 years. Edna was state Director for Kansas State Retired Teachers, and Director of National Retired Teachers. She was inducted into the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame and received the Masters teacher Award given by K.S.T.C, Emporia, spring of 1955. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Pittsburg State University.
