"BOOTS" FOSTER

Melvin B. "Boots" Foster, age 87, of Fort Scott, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 13, 2007, at the Mercy Health Center. He was born June 8, 1919 in Mulberry, the son of Oliver and Cora Groves Foster. He married Marjorie Phillips November 2, 1940 in Nevada, Missouri. She survives of the home.

He previously owned and operated Boots Foster Floor Covering Service, and was a member of the First Christian Church, Fort Scott. He was also a member of the Builders Sunday School Class. Until his health failed, he enjoyed playing golf, and was a former member of the Men's Golf Association in Fort Scott and at Sugar Valley. Boots is survived by his wife Marjorie, of the home; a daughter, Helen Kay Heffernan and husband Don of Sandy, Utah; a son, Melvin Foster and wife Susan of Fort Scott; three grandchildren, Steve Heffernan and wife Janie of Cincinnati, Ohio, Heather Stephens and husband Chris of Webb City, Missouri, and Dr. Matt Foster and wife Mary of Manhattan; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

The Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct funeral services for Boots at 2 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either the First Christian Church of Fort Scott, or the American Cancer Society, and left in care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, P.O.
