Award-winning span

The rehabilitation of the National Avenue bridge over the Marmaton River last year recently won an award from the Kansas Concrete Institute in the bridge category as part of the 2012 Concrete Construction Awards. Contractor for the project was Wildcat Concrete Services and Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A., of Pittsburg, did the design work and construction engineering services. The award will be presented during a Feb. 6 banquet in Manhattan, Kan. Final contract cost for the project was $361,125. The bridge was built in 1933.(Jason E. Silvers/Tribune)
