Uniontown boys beat Erie in OT

ERIE -- Uniontown's boys outscored Erie 15-5 in overtime here Friday night to come away with a 64-54 victory in non-league play.

The Eagles (3-4) had an up-and-down night. They scored 16 points in the second period and 20 in the fourth. But they scored just 13 points combined in the first and third quarters.

The defense likewise had its peaks and valleys. The Eagles allowed only 3 points in the second quarter but 18 in the third.

Uniontown led 24-14 at the half but trailed 32-29 after three.

Brenton Esslinger led the Eagles with 21 points. Skyler Riley added 18 and Joe Duffey chipped in with 15.

Uniontown hosts Oswego in a Three Rivers League doubleheader tonight at the West Bourbon Elementary gymnasium. The girls tip off around 6:30 while the boys will begin about 8 p.m.
