Ruth Jarrell, 92, of Fort Scott, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home. She was born March 29, 1920, in Hode, Ky., the daughter of William and Matilda Isabel (Simpkins) Mollett. She married the Rev. Arthur Jarrell July 7, 1934, in Hode, Ky. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1976.

Ruth and Arthur moved to Huntington, W.Va., in 1937, and lived there until 1953. They then moved to Overland Park, Kan., and enrolled in the Kansas City College and Bible School. After graduating, she worked one year as a teacher in the Kansas City, Kan., grade school. In 1958, they were sent to Cayman Brac, British West Indies, as missionaries by the Church of God (Holiness). They served there seven years and returned to Kansas where they pastured churches in Yates Center and Arkansas City. After her husband's death, Ruth served four years as a missionary and teacher in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. In 1981, she moved to Fort Scott where she worked part-time at the Medicalodge for 12 years.

Ruth was a member of the Clarksburg Church of God (Holiness) where she served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher.

Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews and her family and friends at the Clarksburg Church of God (Holiness). In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and five sisters.

The Rev. David Tucker will conduct funeral services for Ruth at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksburg Church of God or Fort Scott Christian Heights and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
