FSHS drama department to host Hawley benefit
Tuesday, December 11, 2012
The Fort Scott High School drama department improv troupe will be performing this Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium as a benefit for Fort Scott Middle School student Hunter Hawley. Hunter was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006, and after doctoring at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, was diagnosed cancer-free two years later. Within three months, the cancer had returned and Hunter was hospitalized for a month. In 2012 Hunter finished his chemotherapy treatments, but one month later, more cancer was found. One week later, the Bone Marrow Transplant Team contacted the Hawleys, but when Hunter's medical condition began to improve, the transplant was called off.
