COFFEYVILLE, Kan. -- Fort Scott High School's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Coffeyville in the final match of Southeast Kansas League play here Thursday. The loss did not affect the Tigers' league championship status as they had clinched it with a win over the Golden Tornado about three weeks ago.

The only goal for Fort Scott (5-1 SEK, 10-4 overall) came from Austin Sather from an assist by Tyler Endicott.

Coffeyville improved to 2-3 in the SEK and 7-5-1 overall, remaining in third place in the league behind Pittsburg (3-2, 7-5).

Fort Scott plays its last two matches of the regular season next week, both on the road. The Tigers will play at Riverton Tuesday and at Paola Thursday. On either Oct. 22 or 23, Fort Scott will host a first-round Class 4-3-2-1A Regional Playoff Game at Ellis Park. The opponent to be determined at a seeding meeting on Oct. 20, when a group of 10 schools will be split into two five-team Southeast Regional brackets.
