Juanita A. (Gilbert) Jones, 96, of Girard, died at 11:10 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012 in the Girard Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 14, 1915 in Pittsburg, a daughter of James J. and Kathryn Pearl (Woolfolk) Gilbert. She grew up and attended schools in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School.

She married Teddy C. Jones on March 7, 1944, in the First Christian Church in Girard. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1995.

She worked at the Crawford County Abstract Office in Pittsburg for 36 years and the Girard office for three years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Girard, past secretary for the church and a member of the Loyal Berean Sunday School class and the Salem Club. She joined the Banner Rebekah Lodge in Pittsburg in 1936 and later transferred her membership to the Rebekah Lodge in Girard.

She enjoyed her family, her many nieces and nephews and their children, her farm, and the Saturday Night Card Club.

Survivors are a sister-in-law, Beth Gilbert of Pittsburg; nephews Mike Gilbert and Shannon of Des Moines, Iowa, James Gilbert and Lisa of Eudora, Kansas, Finley Jones and Nancy of Girard, and C.Z. Jones of Cypress, Texas; nieces Marlaine Nickelson and William of Mulberry, Diane Ludwig of Toronto, Kansas, Fleta Rose and Bob of Girard and Mona Jones of Neosho, Mo.; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Theresa A. Glazier and an infant, Helen Gilbert; a brother, Clyde E. Gilbert.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Rev. Doug Amend officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where friends may call after 1 p.m., Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
