Clarence Andrew Walker, 81, a resident of rural Uniontown, Kan., died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kan. He was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Arthur Andrew Walker and Jessie Newton McHenry Walker. Clarence graduated from the Bronson High School. He later served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Fannie Mae Woods in 1954. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2011. Clarence owned and operated his own farm southwest of Mapleton for many years. He enjoyed raising chickens and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Clinton Walker and wife, Rachel, Mapleton, Kan., Jessie Walker and wife, Theresa, Uniontown, Kan., and Dr. Andy Walker and wife, Vickie, Belleville, Kan., and a daughter, Sue Fay and husband, Fred, Uniontown, Kan. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Margaret Lewis, Fort Scott, Kan.; a sister, Clara Finfrock, Bronson, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Trinity Lee Fay and Danielle Maye Fay; two sons, Rick Lewis and Tim Lewis; and four sisters, Ina Lafferty, Lenora Headley, Laverne Oharah and May Mary Walker.

There was cremation. The Rev. Matthew Hamilton will conduct a memorial service at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 7, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Because of the love of his land, a portion of his cremains will also be scattered on his farm.
