Regional baseball, softball play begins Monday

Regional playoff action in baseball and softball will get underway at most sites throughout the state of Kansas Monday afternoon. Fort Scott High School baseball and softball gets underway that day at four of the five locations featuring Tribune Area teams.

Play begins Monday in baseball Regionals at Ottawa and Arma and softball sites at Paola and Yates Center. Jayhawk-Linn baseball has to wait until Wednesday before it begins play at the Lyndon Regional.

The schedule for each Regional:

Ottawa Class 4A Baseball.

Fort Scott is the No. 6 seed based in its 8-10 record as of Wednesday morning. The Tigers will face Paola (13-7) at 4 p.m. Monday on the West field. The Ottawa regional is using two fields. If the Tigers beat Paola Monday, they will face the Iola-Prairie View winner in a semifinal at 4 p.m. Tuesday on the same field. The championship game will be played at 6 p.m. at Drake Field.

Louisburg (5: 9-11) vs. Osawatomie (4: 9-9), 4 p.m., Drake Field

Fort Scott (6: 8-10) vs. Paola (3: 13-7), 4 p.m., West Field.

Anderson County (8: 2-16) vs. Ottawa (1: 16-4), 6 p.m., Drake Field.

Prairie View (7: 6-10) vs. Iola (2; 13-5), 6 p.m. West Field.

Tuesday's Games

Louisburg-Osawatomie winner vs. Anderson County-Ottawa winner, 4 p.m., Drake Field

Fort Scott-Paola winner vs. Prairie View-Iola winner, 4 p.m., West Field.

Championship, 6 p.m. Drake Field.

Paola Class 4A Softball.

Fort Scott is the No. 3 seed with a 9-7 record prior to Thursday's doubleheader with Chanute. The Tigers will play Iola (4-12) at 4 p.m. Monday at Lou Baehr Field. If they win, they'll play Tuesday at 4 on the same field versus the Anderson County-Prairie View winner. The Championship will be held at Julie Silver Field at 5:45.

Northeast Class 2-1A Baseball.

This is now just a four-team tournament following Chetopa's decision not to play, which means the entire tournament can be held Monday at Arma.

Uniontown is the No. 4 seed, credited with a 2-15 record, and will face St. Paul (16-2) at 2 p.m. Northeast (7-10) will face No. 2 Oswego (9-9) in the second semifinal at 4 p.m. The championship game will take place at 6 p.m.

Lyndon Class 2-1A Baseball.

Jayhawk-Linn is the No. 1 seed at 13-5 and awaits the winner of a Tuesday play-in game between Burlingame and Yates Center. The Jayhawks will face that winner at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Yates Center Class 2-1A Softball.

Uniontown (14-4) is the No. 1 seed while Jayhawk-Linn (12-5) is No. 2. The Eagles will play Tuesday at 3 p.m. against the winner of Monday's play-in game between Marmaton Valley and Elk Valley. The Jayhawks follow with a 4:45 contest versus Yates Center. The final will be held at 6:30.
