Fort Scott High's girls jumped out to a 12-0 lead on their way to claiming their first victory of the season, 49-22 over Anderson County at the FSHS gymnasium Tuesday night.

The Tigers (1-4), playing their first home game, allowed no field goals in the opening stanza and just 8 for the game in keeping the Bulldogs (0-4) winless.

Fort Scott forced 28 turnovers playing the full-court press the Tigers are known for. FSHS recorded 19 steals.

Katren Rienbolt had the hot hand early, scoring 7 points in the first period. She added 5 in the second and 9 in the third as she finished the night with a game-high 21.

"That's the kind of game we need from her," Fort Scott head coach Jeff Armstrong said of his sophomore wing. "That's how she plays. She hits the open shots. She gets out on breaks. Other people created steals and got to her and she finished. And the girls seem not to care who gets the points; they just want to get a victory."

Anderson County scored a lone free throw in the first period, coming with 1:27 remaining. The 'Dogs finally got their first field goal 55 seconds into the second but still trailed 26-6 at the half.

The lead was 43-16 after three and the 30-point running clock rule came into effect with just over five minutes remaining at 47-17.

Brianne Lawrence added 9 points for the Tigers and led the team with 9 rebounds. Sidney Maycumber scored 8 points. Maddi Allen and Shelby Maycumber had 5 steals each.

The Tigers host Louisburg Friday night.

JUNIOR VARSITY -- Jillian Lattimer's 17 points helped the Tigers defeat Anderson County, 45-31.
