Paula Baez Danley, 76, a former resident of Garden City, Kan., died at her son's home in Fulton, Kan., Friday afternoon, Aug. 12, 2011. She was born June 26, 1935, in Cidra, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Eustoquio Cruz Baez.

She worked for Peerless Products in Fort Scott, Kan., for several years in the early 70s before moving to Garden City. She worked for Finney County Feed Yard in Garden City for 20 years. She later worked for El Remedio Grocery in Garden City until she became ill.

Paula enjoyed painting, ceramics, sewing, gardening and knitting. She also loved to cook, not only for familybut also for whoever happened to stop by.

Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by the Spanish speaking community of Garden City. She was devout in her Catholic faith, becoming godmother to numerous children in the Garden City area.

Survivors include two sons, Hector Morillo, Garden City, Kan., and Pedro Morillo, Fulton; special friend Henry Homan and wife Patty, Uniontown, Kan.; one brother, Rafael Cruz, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Riccardelli, Phoenix, and Irma Montalvo, Puerto Rico.

Also surviving are six grandchildren; Carmen Hickman, Alisa Morillo, Tonya Browning, James Morillo, Joshua Morillo and Jace Morillo, as well as 15 great- grandchildren; Jessie, Maddie, Jerrett, Alex, Chelsee, Shane, Aleena, Vanessa, James, Kate, Alexandria, McKinna, Monty, Cinch and Addison.

She was preceded in death by her mother, one sister, Carmen Cruz, and one brother, Roberto Lizardi.

There was cremation. Rev. Rusty Newman will conduct memorial services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Cheney Witt Chapel, Fort Scott. A second memorial service will be announced in Garden City.
