VIRGINIA GRACE SMITH
Virginia Grace Smith, 84, a long-time resident of Bronson, Kan., died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott, Kan.
She was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Uniontown, Kan., the daughter of Frank N. Weyant and Mary J. Holt Weyant.
Virginia graduated from Uniontown High School and attended Pittsburg State University. She married Roy Edward Smith on Dec. 7, 1947, in Moran, Kan. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2005.
She was a member of the Bronson United Methodist Church and served as past president of Bronson United Methodist Women.
Virginia was a member of the Bronson Order of the Eastern Star and held several offices through the years. She also served as past president and secretary of the OES Culture Club, past secretary of the Bronson Public Library and past president of the Bronson Senior Citizens.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Salmon and husband David, Fowler, Kan., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma L. Wilson, two brothers, Holt Buford Weyant and Miles Edwin Weyant, and one sister-in-law, Wilma Weyant.
Pastor David Schrum will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 5, at the Bronson United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel, with Eastern Star services to be held at 7 p.m.
