Leta Marie McWilliams, 90, Frontenac, Kan., formerly of Sheldon, Mo., passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Sunset Manor in Frontenac, following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Sheldon, Mo., to Leslie Robert Defreese and Elizabeth Wolf Defreese. She was married Nov. 14, 1953, in Arkansas, to James Woodrow McWilliams and he preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1985.

Mrs. McWilliams was born and raised in Sheldon and spent most of her life in this area. She worked for 25 years at the Nevada State Hospital and also helped her husband on the farm. She baby sat most every child in Sheldon at one time and she was very active in the community. She was a member of the Sheldon Baptist Church and taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 11, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow at Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
