Carolane Jean Collins, 62, of Eagle Rock, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Joplin, Mo. Carolane was born May 9, 1949, in Southwest City, Mo., to Otis and Mildred (Easter) Burton.

Carolane graduated from Jay High School in Jay, Okla. She married Thomas in Joplin on Dec. 6, 1991. Carolane worked as a quality control tech for Eagle Picher Technologies for over 30 years before retiring.

She was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Eagle Rock, Mo. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, canning and antiques.

Carolane is survived by her husband Thomas of the home, one daughter, Sheila Merriman of Joplin; one step-son, Nathan Collins of Fort Scott, Kan.; one brother, Don Burton of Disney, Okla.; one sister, Marilyn Turner of Greenwood, Ark.; five grandchildren, Tasia Lyn Sims, Matthew Tyler Merriman, Tiffani Nicole Renee Merriman, Trevor Brandon Merriman and Jamie Collins; one great-grandchild, Aliviah Sims, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carolane is preceded in death by both her parents and one brother, James Burton.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 1, from 5-8 p.m. at the Grand Lake Funeral Home in Jay, Okla. Church Services will be held Thursday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at Grand Lake Funeral Home Chapel in Jay. Officiating the service are Rev. Jody Ray and asst. Rev. Raymond Scott.
