Lee Ellen Alexander, 77, a former resident of Fort Scott, Kan., and more recently of Lansing, Kan., died Friday, May 13, 2011, at her home in Lansing. She was born March 18, 1934, in Bolivar, Mo., the daughter of Fred C. Bagby and Audrey Ellen Farmer Bagby. Lee married William Ray Alexander on July 23, 1953, at Harrison, Ark. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2009. Lee was a member of the Fort Scott First United Methodist Church and had served as president of the United Methodist Women. She was also on the church administrative board and served as chairperson of the worship committee. Lee played an active roll in her daughters' youth activities. She served as a Bluebird and Campfire leader and also served on the PTA. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She had served as secretary for the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce and had also worked for U.S. Sen. Nancy Kassebaum.
