Russell Lee Headley, 66, of Fort Scott, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2011 at the Mercy Health Center.

He was born April 18, 1944 in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Mearl Odell and Essie E. (Zion) Headley.

Russell was a lifelong resident of the Bourbon County area, and graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1962.

He did various work through the years, including Whiteside's West, Lockwood Motors, and did Antique Restoration.

Russell also worked for Midwestern Distribution for several years.

He has helped build Motorcycles that accommodate wheelchairs, and lifts to help other handicapped people.

Survivors include two sisters, Sylvia Jean Carter of Lee Summit, Mo., Dorothy May Headley of Fort Scott; a brother, Joe Earl Headley of Olathe, Kan.; and special friend and devoted caregiver Regina Swisher, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Letha Faye Headley.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Marmaton Cemetery.
